Kom 23 maart onze 4e verjaardag vieren! Punky Donch viert samen met ons hun verjaardag. Deze Caribische band houdt Delft al enige tijd in haar greep. Met hun hit Sensimilia kan menigeen meezingen, vraag maar aan de barjongens van Ciccionina ;). Naast deze heerlijke band komt er een arsenaal dj's die de Caribische sfeer zullen vasthouden. Dj Jeydea debuteert deze avond en zorgt ervoor dat alle billen boven weer gaan wiebelen. Samen met Juut staat hij achter de draaitafels. Sista Lisa, Vieze Presidenten & It's Our Thing maken de avond compleet. Oh ja, als je binnen komt krijg je een heerlijke gratis cocktail van Pimo Cocktails, yumm. Dj Daoud zal de zaal opwarmen voor Punky Donch die om 23.00 beginnen! Zorg dat je een kaartje in de VVK koopt, dan betaal je maar 6e in plaats van 10.
PUNKY DONCH
As inexplicable as their name, is their style: a mix of Roots/Reggae with some Caribbean flavor, Hip Hop and a pinch of Rock. What they have in common is their Antillean heritage, but what makes them unique is this combination of talented individuals with different upbringings and musical backgrounds. The blend of their diversity in style and similarity in culture creates the incomparable Punky Donch sound. Since the formation of the band in 2008, Punky Donch have released their debut album ‘Gangsta Reggae’ that features songs in both, Papiamentu and English. The singles ‘Sensimilla’ and ‘Mi Kier Bo Awe’ worked their way through the networks of fans and supporters and hit the charts in the Antilles in 2009.
That same year, Punky Donch won the European Reggae Contest as ‘Best Reggae/Roots Band Benelux’ and played at Europe’s biggest Reggae festival, the Rototom Sunsplash. After their performance at the Amsterdam Reggae festival, some critics described Punky Donch as ‘one of the revelations’ of the festival and the ‘surprise of the night’. Since then, they have been touring the Netherlands and the Antilles and are currently working on their highly anticipated new album which will be released around the end of this year and hopefully allow them to take the leap onto the international Reggae stage
Het nummer Rasta Lightning is de nieuwste release van de groep Punky Donch. Het is de eerste single van hun aankomende album 'On My Way' en heeft urban, pop en rock elementen. Voor de nieuwe cd willen de bandleden de fans verrassen door verschillende muziekstijlen te combineren, waaronder reggae, een beetje zouk en ook een paar aparte stijlen. Daarnaast zijn er ook tracks te horen met de oude flavor van de groep. Het album kunnen de fans in april verwachten.
